William "Bill" Richard Lady

May 31, 1955 — August 18, 2024

Bay Saint Louis, MS

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Lady, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Bill, aged 69, loved the Mississippi Gulf Coast and was so proud to be one of the founders and board of directors for the beloved event Cruisin’ the Coast.

Bill was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in a suburb of the city. In 1976 Bill’s parents purchased the Waveland Resort Inn and he moved to Hancock County shortly after to be a part of the family business. Bill believed strongly and encouraged tourism for establishing a tax base for all businesses on the Gulf Coast. He paved the way for casinos to be approved in the state of Mississippi, was a long-time member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Hotel/Motel association, and he not only started the Hancock County Tourism Board but served as president for many years.

In addition to his professional achievements, Bill cared deeply for his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Pattie Lady, his two daughters Michelle Ball (Colton), Ashley Lady, and his cherished grandsons Jackson and John Cohen Ball. He also leaves behind his nieces Jennifer Underwood, her three girls (Gracie, Londyn, and Brooklyn), Pamela Lady-Ladnier and her daughter (Addison), along with his extended Derry/Huggins family. Bill’s loved ones left behind find some comfort in knowing he is reunited with his brothers and best friends Jim Lady, Steve Lady, his parents Milford and Evelyn Lady, his mother-in-law Patricia Derry, and sister-in-law Suzette Huggins.

Bill enjoyed antique corvettes and spending time on his pier watching the sunsets. He loved life and lived it with a smile on his face. Bill's presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life to honor Bill’s life will be held later this year.

Edmond Fahey Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Bill Lady.
