William "Bill" Kenneth Kearney, aged 84, of Waveland, MS, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 21, 1941, in Crowley, LA, Bill was the beloved son of Charles Andrew Kearney and Rena White Kearney. He graduated from the University of Louisiana Lafayette with a degree in accounting in 1963 and later completed his master's coursework at Louisiana State University in 1964.
Bill began his career at a national CPA firm in New Orleans from 1965 to 1967. He then transitioned to the private sector, joining Coleman E. Adler & Sons, Inc., where he served as Vice President and General Manager until his retirement in 2007. Following a brief period of retirement, he became a licensed real estate agent and worked independently with O'Dwyer Realty.
Throughout his life, Bill made significant contributions to his community. He was a dedicated member of the New Orleans Rotary Club, served on the finance committee of St. Clair Catholic Church and School, and was actively involved in the St. Clair Recovery Steering Committee. He held positions as Director and Treasurer for various organizations, including the Hancock County Community Development Foundation, and played a vital role in the United Way’s retail and commerce divisions. Bill was also a proud member of the Bay Waveland Yacht Club and a CASA advocate for many years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Johnston Kearney and his parents, Charles Andrew and Rena White Kearney.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Elizabeth Kearney, and his sons, William Lawton Kearney and Charles Andrew Kearney. Bill was also cherished by his grandchildren: William "Will" Kearney, Avery Frances Kearney, Evan Patrick Kearney, Charles "Chase" Andrew Kearney, and Madilyn Shauna Kearney, as well as his beloved dog, Angie.
Bill's family will announce a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Hospital in his memory.
Bill Kearney's legacy of service, devotion to family, and commitment to his community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
