IN LOVING MEMORY
William "UB" Roy Horrigan, age 88, of Bay Saint Louis, MS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.
Known affectionately as "Uncle Billy," "UB," and "Mr. Bill," he was born on October 2, 1937, in Vinton, LA, a man of many names because he touched so many lives. After serving proudly in the US Air Force in the 1950s, he made his home in New Orleans, where he dedicated more than 27 years to community service through the City of New Orleans and the AFL-CIO. In 1982, he followed his heart to Bay Saint Louis, where he became a devout member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church and earned his 3rd and 4th Degrees in the Knights of Columbus, a reflection of the faith and brotherhood that defined him. He finished his career at Casino Magic as a front desk clerk, where his warm smile and easy way with people earned him the beloved title of "Mr. Bill."
Uncle Billy was a man who found joy in life's simplest pleasures. He loved his dogs and all animals, enjoyed daily walks, and was especially fond of old westerns. He lived by the mantra "if nothing happens" meaning to live in the moment and if the good Lord called him home, he was ready to go.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Joseph Horrigan (Papa); his mother, Juanita Dean; and his beloved companion Daisy Mae. He is survived by his niece Christine (Robin) Ladner, his nephew Ted (Johnnette) Bilbo, his loyal canine Lord Oliver, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who made up his beloved family.
A rosary will be held at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Cemetery. A reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian Life Center at Our Lady of the Gulf.
In lieu of flowers, please send all donations to OLG Catholic Church or the Hancock County Humane Society.
