Verna Edith David King Martinez, 95, of Waveland, MS passed away Monday, January 29, 2024 in Waveland, MS.
She was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland, MS. Mrs. Martinez grew up in Louisiana. She was a musician, singer, and lead guitarist for over 70 years. She also wrote music and shared it with friends and family members. She was an artist focusing mostly on wildlife, was an avid doll collector, collecting over 100 dolls. Many of the dolls she painted, strung, and created clothes for them herself. Most importantly she was a person of deep faith and attended church regularly until she was too sick to do so. Mrs. Martinez will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl King; second husband, Henry Martinez; parents, Lodias Paul & Daisy Trosclair David, Sr; sisters, Estelle Barras, Heloise Broussard, and Lillian Newman Arnold; and brothers, Numa David and Lodias P. David, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen King; nieces & nephews, Charlotte Sterling (Larry), Delores Turner, June Kepler, Eddie Barras, Philip Barras, Marie Hugget, and Arnold Newman.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at St. Clare Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery: 4899 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70000 at 1:30 p.m. Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS is honored to serve the family of Verna Edith David King Martinez.
