Thomas "Eddie" Jennings, Sr., 82, of Kiln, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024.
Eddie was born in Hattiesburg, MS on August 30, 1942 to Avis Morgan and William Jennings. He was an avid outdoorsman who had a great love of sports. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gunsmithing, working on cars, and drinking cold beer. During his early life he served in the Coast Guard and began working for the Hancock County Sheriff's Department in 1968. While working part time at the Sheriff’s office, He also worked for Tennessee Gas and went full time for the Sheriff’s Office after he retired. He enjoyed 56 years of service in law enforcement and supported the Patrol Division at the time of his death at the rank of Captain. While many knew him as “Cap’n Eddie”, he was also known as dad, pawpaw, and friend. He never knew a stranger and he was a man who would do anything he could to help someone who needed him. He once said, “If you love your job it’s fun to go to work. If you don’t, life’s a lot harder. Do something that you love.” He was a man who took pride in his job, and he was a hard worker for all of his life. He was admired and loved by his countless friends and family. In Heaven, he has been reunited with Avis and his step-father Bill Morreale, his brother Wil Jennings, and his son Tommy Jennings. On Earth he leaves his step-siblings Jake Morreale, Domenica Favre, and Ann Joiner. He also leaves his grandchildren, Ashlynn and Corey Jennings.
