Slick Dawsey

Slick Dawsey, heaven sent husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 18 years, Tanya; two beautiful daughters, Jaydin and Jaylah; two handsome sons, Prestin and Jase "Toot;" along with his TV watching, couch lounging, puppy princess, Elsa; his mother, Debra Dermid (Mike); father, Howard Dawsey Sr. (Donna); mother by heart, Shirley Verdin; sisters, Patricia Dermid, Candace Bennett, and Monique Bennett; brother, Jason Bennett; and several nieces and nephews, including those that weren't biologically his.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Adaline Randall; his paternal grandparents, Dallie and Malon Dawsey; his brother, Lemuel Dermid; and numerous aunts and uncles who had a great impact on his life.

A life-long resident of Pearlington, MS, Slick could be recognized by his boisterous personality. As a hard working tug boat captain, he dedicated his life to providing for his family, never missing a day of work. Slick loved hunting, fishing, camping, and a cold Bud Light. He loved to joke and give friends a hard time. But most of all, he loved spending time with his wife and kids. He was the one you could always call, no matter the situation. Slick was truly a "give you the shirt off of his back" kind of guy. He will be dearly missed (including his loudness and witty comments) by all who knew and loved him but his memory will continue to live on in the legendary stories from family and friends.

Services will take place in Pearlington, MS. Visitation on Friday, May 30, 2025 at the First Southern Baptist Church of Pearlington from 7:00 p.m. till 11:00 p.m. Funeral on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the First Southern Baptist Church of Pearlington at 10:00 a.m. with Interment to follow at the Pearlington Cemetery.
