Robert Garland "Bob" Hubbard III

May 19, 1938 — September 9, 2024

Waveland, MS

Robert Garland "Bob" Hubbard III 86, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away peacefully at Dunbar Village in Bay St. Louis while in Hospice care.

Bob was born to R.G. "Manny" Hubbard and Dorothy Thompson "Dot" Hubbard on May 19, 1938, at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, LA then came home to live in the family home in Waveland, MS.

Bob attended St. Stanislaus school where he was active in the band and boy scouts. Bob attained Eagle Scout while in high school. He graduated in 1956 then entered the seminary at St. Benedict's in Covington, LA for 2 years. He finished his education in science and history at the University of Southern MS in Hattiesburg and spent many years teaching in the Hancock County School System. He also began his photography business at this time. He carried on this "Passion of photography" throughout his 7-year time at Dunbar Village. Bob was very active in the community for most of his life. He was a Waveland Alderman for a term with Mayor Tommy Longo. He worked for Congressman Gene Taylor in Bay St. Louis and Gulfport offices before and after his stroke in 1996. He was active in many clubs, especially the Rotary Club where he was awarded the "Paul Harris Fellow" two years ago for his 40 years of membership. He was also so proud of his long-standing active membership in the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church and was a 4th degree Knight.

Bob's photography was a lifetime enjoyment. He took pictures at Baptisms, Wedding's, Grammar School's, High School's Family Reunion's, and wherever and whenever he could. He loved taking pictures of people at various events and would have them developed at Walmart then given to whomever he photographed. Even at the nursing home, he took pictures of the residents and then gave them copies. Photography kept Bob busy, active, and very happy until his passing.

Bob is survived by his three sisters, Ann Levy, Joan Orlin (Pete), and Sally Erickson (Steve); two brothers, David Hubbard (Joann), and Richard Hubbard all of Waveland, MS and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
