Robert "Bob" Stuart Ward

 Robert "Bob" Stuart Ward, Sr., 91, of Diamondhead, MS passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024.

Bob was born in Shreveport, LA and grew up in Gulfport, MS. He went into the insurance business and retired as Vice-President of Gillis Ellis and Baker. As a young man, he graduated from MS State University where he was initiated into Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was later awarded the Order of Constantine for his efforts with the Fraternity. He also served as Captain in the United States Army. Bob was known for his Kentucky Durby parties and when he moved to the MS Gulf Coast in retirement, he enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and cooking for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elva Lawhorn Ward and Sumpter Ward; and sister, Elizabeth Ward Walton.

He is survived by his wife, Marie "Bunny" Bourgeois Ward; five children, Stuart Ward (Barbara), Kelly Ward (Beth), Susan Ward Watts (Christopher), Joe Ward (Lori), and Henry Ward; and five grandchildren, Aubrey Watts Lunastaeria, Emelia Watts, Carolyn Watts, Connor Ward, and Andrew Ward.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Diamondhead, MS at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 10:30 a.m.
