Richard "Rick" Michael Mattingly,68, of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Born in Quantico, Virginia, Rick graduated from Castle High School in 1975. Shortly thereafter, he devoted his life to serving our country by joining the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction from April 1976 until September 1992. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and earned an associate's degree from Vincennes University in 1998.
Rick was a man of many passions. He was proud to be the Country Oaks Golf League Champion in both 2006 and 2019, as well as the Laurel Lanes League Champion from 2003 through 2006. His hobbies included bowling, fishing, golf, and collecting stamps and coins. He was also an enthusiastic fan of the New Orleans Saints, Auburn University sports, and the New York Yankees.
During his military career, Rick received several honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and the Air Force Commendation Medal, reflecting his dedication and exemplary service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Thelson Mattingly.
Rick is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Vivian Mattingly; his four daughters, Christa Price, Amy Sheid, Becky Bergquist, and Frances Sanders; five cherished grandchildren: Noah Sanders, Damian Hill, Matthew Hill, Destinee Wilburn, and Rachel Sanders; great-grandchild Atreus Stuppy; six siblings: Tammy Howell, Lisa Gibson, James "Jimmy" Mattingly, Jennifer Hines, Jeffery "Jeff" Mattingly, and Leigh Duncan; and his beloved pets, Mr. T and Baby.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., followed by a prayer service from 8:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. A graveside service will take place at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS at 10:00 a.m.
