Richard Andrew “Ricky” Manieri, Sr., 65, of Waveland, Mississippi, passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends on September 28, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 24, 1960, Ricky was the beloved son of the late Donald C. Manieri, Sr. and Annie Laura “Bobbie” Coleman Manieri.
Ricky lived a life grounded in faith, family, hard work, and service. He was a graduate of Bay High School and attended Pearl River Community College. A skilled carpenter and landscaper, Ricky worked for many years in construction and most recently operated Cuttin the Coast.
On September 4, 1981, Ricky married Allison Ann McCloskey Manieri. Their 45 years together were filled with faith, family, friendship, laughter, and countless memories. Allison was not only his wife but his partner in life and in service to their church and community. Together, they were honored as recipients of the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi’s 2025 Lumen Christi Award.
Ricky’s faith was central to who he was. A devoted member of St. Clare Catholic Church, he found great meaning in serving God and his community through the Knights of Columbus Council 16433 as a 4th Degree Knight who served as Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight, and Faithful Captain.
Family and friends were Ricky’s greatest joys. He treasured time spent around the table sharing meals, taking vacations, playing games, and simply being together. Some of his happiest moments were with his granddaughters, watching them play soccer and snorkeling for seashells. Ricky also had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. He had a way of making people laugh and bringing a little lightness to even ordinary moments. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—working in his yard, gardening, woodworking, and following his favorite sports teams: the New Orleans Saints, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, and Mississippi State University.
Those who knew Ricky would describe him as hardworking, dedicated, and deeply devoted to the people he loved. He had a generous spirit and was quick to lend his time or talents whenever someone needed him. He believed in putting faith and family first, being there for friends, and doing what he could to make his community a better place.
Even in his final days, Ricky continued to teach those around him. He reminded his family and those close to him of what matters most: make time for the people you love, cherish your family, and forgive. His final days became one more gift to those he loved, leaving them with a deeper appreciation for the preciousness of time, the importance of family, and the freedom that comes with forgiveness.
Ricky leaves behind much more than memories. He leaves an example of how to live—with faith, commitment, humor, purpose, and an appreciation for the people and moments that matter most. His family will carry forward the lessons he taught them, the traditions they shared, and the laughter that filled so many of their memories.
Ricky is survived by his devoted wife, Allison McCloskey Manieri; his son, Richard Andrew Manieri, Jr. (Daphne) and his beloved granddaughters, Huntleigh Reyd Manieri and Ryleigh Anne Manieri. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald C. Manieri (Laurali), Dennis M. Manieri (Donna), and Gerald G. “Jerry” Manieri (Kim); along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald C. Manieri, Sr. and Annie Laura “Bobbie” Coleman Manieri, and his grandparents, Robert H. Coleman and Emma E. Coleman and Sidney A. Manieri and Amelia R. Manieri.
To his family and friends, he was lovingly known as “Big Ricky.” The name says something about the space he occupied in their lives—not simply because of who he was, but because of the love, laughter, strength, and memories he brought to his family. Ricky is deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church, 236 S. Beach Blvd., Waveland, Mississippi.
