The Prince of Peace brought home his daughter, Monte Greenway, age 86, on Thursday September 11, 2025 after a lengthy illness.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Joy Gallo; brother Paul Gallo, Jr; and sons, Adrian (Buster) Bradshaw and William (Rickey) Geno.
She is survived by her loving and devoted companion of 28 years, Peter Serra; son, Jeff Geno (Mary); daughter, Joy Gilbert; grandchildren, Destin McCarty (Bryant), Devon Tilley (Greyson), Jeffrey Geno Jr, Kelly Geno and Emily Geno, great grandchildren, Daniel Boone, Chestin McCarty, Julianne McCarty, and Liam Tilley, brother, Richard Gallo and sister Paula Penny.
She also leaves behind her beloved Great Pyrenees “Ellie” and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Everywhere she went her trustworthiness and competence gained her instant rapport. Monte was a devoted military wife for 23 years. She was an EMT at Blackwater Volunteer Fire Department in VA Beach, VA in the 1970’s. She was the president of the Garden Isle HOA for several years in the 1980’s. She was the first Director of the King’s Kitchen in Bay St Louis.
Monte was a resident of Bay St Louis since 1981. She fell in love with the town and attributed much of her happiness to the people and their love towards her special-needs son. She recognized that racial harmony (an important theme throughout her life) was better here than anywhere she had ever lived.
She loved cake decorating, gardening, sewing, crochet, doll making, painting, short story writing, boating, fishing, dancing, camping and cooking - especially for family holidays.
