Mary Jane Parker

Mary was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Purvis, MS where she was best known as The Card Shark at game nights. Mary loved her children and grandchildren dearly and treasured the time she spent with them. Mary had a servant’s heart and was quick to meet the needs of others, especially children and did so without others knowing. To know Mary was to know she was going to speak her mind.

Mary was preceded in death by her soul mate and loving husband Douglas Parker, her parents Johnnie Shanahan, Margaret Shanahan brothers Carl Shanahan, John Shanahan, Jim Shanahan, Sr., and David Shanahan.

Mary is survived by her children Gina (Allen) Carr of Hattiesburg; Howard Parker of Bay St. Louis; Melissa (Jonathan) Rich of Kiln; her grandchildren Hubert (Daisy) Carr of Petal, Stephen (Randa) Carr of Sumrall, Bryce Fegurgur of Waveland, Makaila Fegurgur of Poplarville and Jemma Kate Parker of Waveland; her great-grandchildren Malakai Broome, Kairi Simmons, Preston and Presley Kate Carr. She is also survived by sisters Sarah (Asie) Upchurch of Florance, Bobbie (Walter) Damiens of Diamondhead, and Bill (Paula) Shanahan of Monument Colorado. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Mary will be Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home: 110 South Necaise Avenue Bay St. Louis, MS. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with funeral services at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Forrest General Hospital 2T and ICU for the loving way they cared for her in her final days. The love and compassion shown to the family could never be repaid. Thank you seems so inadequate.
