Mary Catherine Gillen

Mary Catherine Gillen née Rogers, 82, of Waveland, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, in Shreveport, LA.

Mary was born in Magnolia, Arkansas to Clarence Rogers and Louise Rogers née Roton on November 7, 1943. She was educated at Fairpark High School, Shreveport, LA, and Forest Park Community College, St. Louis, MO. Mary married William F. Gillen Jr., and they spent the next 44 years together. She supported him with travel to U.S. Marine Corps reunions and with keeping in touch with other veterans from the Korean War. Mary was a very generous woman, often taking others to lunch and dinner. She loved pets, often looking after stray kittens. Mary worked for the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority as a purchasing manager for most of her career. After retiring, she continued working part time to keep busy. Later in life she attended church in Waveland, MS.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William F Gillen Jr.; and parents, Clarence Rogers and Louise Rogers. She is survived by two sons, Dan Foeller (Donna) and Scott Foeller (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Christopher, Robert, Nicole, and Caroline; three stepchildren, William III, Jay Byrd, and Mary, along with their spouses, and children; four brothers, John David, Clarence Jr "Junior", Jimmy, and Gary; sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews. Mary had many friends in the locations where she lived over the years.
