Mary Elizabeth Jackson Garriga, 100, of Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

Mary was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis. She lived with her grandparents until their passing and she attended the Gulfport Public School System. She later moved to Waveland to live with relatives and attended the Bay St. Louis Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1941. After graduating, she was employed as a Legal Secretary by Dan M. Russell, Jr. who opened his Law Firm in Bay St. Louis where she remained until he was called to duty with the United States Navy during World War II. Shortly after leaving the law firm, she started her forty years with the Bay St. Louis Public Schools Administration Office as Secretary, Bookkeeper, and later Business Manager, when she retired.

James L. Garriga, and the Lord blessed them with three little angels, whom they loved dearly. The Lord did not forget to provide a faithful and loving “Nanny” Mary Lewis who was waiting to help care for the three little angels and a member of the family for forty years. Mary was a very loving and devoted wife and mother to her husband and children. She also had many friends and will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

She was a preceded in death by her first husband, Louis T. Ranson wo was killed in action—World War II; second husband, James L. “Jack” Garriga, Sr.; two sons, James L. “Jimmy” Garriga, Jr. and Gregory A. “Gary Garriga; daughter, Jacqueline E. “Jackie” Garriga; parents, Elmer Forrest Jackson, and Margaret Agnew Turcotte Necaise; and grandparents, William B. and Alice E. Jackson.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and step-brother, John William Jackson (Shirley).

Services will take place at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Funeral at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Rotten Bayou—St. Joseph Cemetery in Diamondhead, MS.
