Mary Kathryn Davis

August 11, 0946 — October 20, 2025

Colorado Springs

Mary Kathryn (Katy) Davis, 79, of Colorado Springs passed away in Gulfport, MS on October 20, 2025, unexpectedly while undergoing cancer treatment. Katy was born in Pueblo, CO on August 1st, 1946, to Tomasita and Guadalupe Garcia, the oldest of ten children. She grew up in Pueblo, lived in California for a short while, and settled in Colorado Springs. She was a pioneer of sorts – one of the first women to work in the Colorado Springs Post Office when she was hired in 1968. Her long postal career ended with her retirement in Las Vegas, NV. She returned to Colorado Springs in 2004 to be closer to family.

Katy will always be remembered as the sweet loving person she was. Throughout her life she hosted the best parties, always willing to share her space, her smile, and her kitchen to bring others together. She loved to travel, making many trips across the country and worldwide, traveling with her sisters, cousins, friends, daughters and grandchildren. She was a proud life-long member of the American Postal Workers Union. A voracious reader, she accumulated quite a collection of notable books. Katy loved classic rock n roll and a well-made Cuba Libre. She and her girlfriend Annie loved their Thursday nights together on the town. Her droll sense of humor and impish grin when she caught you with one of her soft lob jokes were legendary.

Katy is survived by her daughter Michelle Powell (Jason Klobas) of Bay St Louis, MS, grandchildren Alexis Houts and Sabrina (Herman) Lucero, Grace Powell, Richard Powell, Bodie Klobas, Colt Klobas, Jason Klobas Jr., grandchildren Tiana Lucero and Tobias Lucero Brother James (Jan) Garcia, sisters Elizabeth Martin, Cynthia (the late Dan) Brooks, Rose (Jon) Numair, Elaine (Mark) Kelly, Susan DeHerrera (Joe Guerrero), and Eloise (Ed) Vigil, many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncle, friends and her beloved and faithful companion Tux, the dog.

Katy was preceded in death by her mother, Tomasita Garcia, father, Guadalupe Garcia, husband, Robert, daughter, Felicia Houts, sister Virginia (Michael) Salazar, and brother Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1830 S Corona Ave, Colorado Springs, 11am, Thursday, December 4, 2025.
