Leroy Joseph Halstead, affectionately known as “Lee”, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at his home in Diamondhead, Mississippi, at the age of 61.
Born on September 4, 1964, in Marrero, Louisiana, Lee spent his early childhood there before moving with his family to West Virginia. He grew up on a cherished family farm, a place he spoke of often and fondly. The land, the work, and the simple joys of farm life left a lasting imprint on him and helped shape the man he became.
Lee dedicated his life to serving and caring for others. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychiatric nursing and carried his compassion forward through his work with LHC Home Health, where he was known for his steady presence, gentle nature, and the sincere comfort he offered his patients and colleagues.
Before entering the medical field, Lee served four years as a police officer with the New Orleans Police Department, protecting the community where his life began. He also proudly served seven years in the Army National Guard, exemplifying his lifelong devotion to service, integrity, and duty.
An adventurer at heart, Lee loved the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, biking, boating, and exploring national parks. Whether on the water, a trail, or a road trip, he found joy in discovering new places and sharing those moments with the people he loved.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Wayne Halstead.
He is survived by his wife, Angelina Halstead; his children, Bradley Halstead (and his wife, Cassie), and Ariane Halstead; his beloved grandchildren, Maci, Jeremiah, and Aria; and his mother, June Darcy Stoddardd. He is also survived by his siblings, Reba Drennan and Lori Bower (and her husband, Lee); his godson, Kaden Conlon; as well as his loyal pet, Alli, who was always by his side.
Lee’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, through his service, his compassion, his humor, and the adventures he embraced.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local SPCA or National Park Foundation in memory of Leroy Halstead, honoring his lifelong love for animals and the outdoors.
A special thank-you to Adam Henderson, Jacob Malley, Andrea Benefield, Jennie Conlon, and Esperanza Vanden Berg.
Edmond Fahey Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Leroy Joseph Halstead.
