When she was a child, she moved to Slidell, Louisiana, with her parents, Gene and Linda Berryman, and her sister Kara. There, her exceptionally sweet spirit attracted the love of her life. From the moment he met her, Earl Childs, Jr., told friends he’d marry Kyla one day and they did on June 1, 1985. The pride and joy of Kyla’s life were her five children: Brandi, Jacquelyn, Gino, Tiffani, and Amber. She dedicated everything to making them happy and setting them up for success.
She is survived by her husband, five children, and 12 grandchildren.
Kyla was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in March 2021 and fought long and hard. In the end, she was dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer to help save lives. In lieu of flowers or gifts, anyone interested can show support by donating to her cause at www.info-komen.org/goto/kyla
