Katharine "Kay" Baltar Lange

Katharine “Kay" Baltar Lange, 88, of Bay St. Louis, MS., entered peacefully into heaven from her home on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Originally from Biloxi, Kay was beloved by all who knew her.

Kay retired from her work in interior design and tourism and enjoyed her life with daily fishing, gardening, and reading. She was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis. She grew up sailing and was a longtime active member of the Bay Waveland Yacht Club. She was also a member of the Garden Club and flower show award winner, member of the Bay St. Louis Historical Society, an Ole Miss alumnus, and a member of Kappa Delta sorority. In retirement, she was blessed to be able to sail on the Queen Elizabeth II with her husband, Kurt, to enjoy family in France. Our beloved Kay was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and kind friend to all. She will be missed by so many.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Kurt Lange; parents, John D. and Katharine Boyett Baltar; and brother, John D. Baltar, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Stuart Ward (Barbara), John Kelly Ward (Beth), Susan Ward Watts (Christopher), Joe Ward (Lori), and Henry Ward; stepchildren, Alan Lange (Daren) and Elena Lange; grandchildren, Aubrey, Emelia, and Carolyn Watts, Connor and Andrew Ward, and Lorenza, Helen, and Rodolfo Lange; and sister, Marilyn Baltar Fireman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, MS at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. and a Rosary at 9:30 am.

Interment will take place at Biloxi City Cemetery following a private family graveside service.
