Joel Davis Dicharry, Sr.

Joel Davis Dicharry, Sr., of Diamondhead, Mississippi, passed away at home on Sunday, February 8th, 2026. 

Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1947, he is preceded in death by his parents, Verne Dicharry, Sr. and Veva Davis Dicharry; his beloved first wife, Roseanne Cooling Dicharry; his granddaughter Nina Dicharry; his brother Verne Dicharry, Jr. and his sister-in-law Susie Dicharry.

Joel is survived by his wife Sally Simons Dicharry, his children Joel Davis Dicharry, Jr. (Rachel) and Holly Dicharry; grandchildren Jacob Dicharry and Thomas Shepherd Dicharry; two brothers, Thomas Dicharry and Dreux Dicharry, one sister, Suzanne Dicharry and his stepsons Garrett Hogue and Charlie Hogue.

Joel was a graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge and held an associate's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Jeff Davis Community College in Pass Christian, Mississippi. He worked for several years in the hospitality industry before he became a long-time employee of Royal Cup Coffee, from where he retired as District Sales Manager for Louisiana and Mississippi. He was a proud U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran, having served on a ship in the Da Nang River (among other places) from 1967-1969.

He was a master craftsman wood worker who loved to ride his "Indian" motorcycle as much as possible. Joel was a stalwart, loyal, true friend and was a genuinely kind, loving soul. His happy attitude and personality touched and affected many. He will be missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, 228 S. Beach Blvd., Bay St. Louis, Mississippi 39520 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Animal Shelter of Hancock County.
