Jeanette Stephens

Jeanette Stephens, aged 83 passed away in her home in Diamondhead MS on Sunday 26th July 2026.

Born Jeanette Lillian Rose Stephens in 1943 in the UK, she left home at 16 and emigrated to Australia. Jeanette returned home after 2 years having matured into a confident young woman. The desire to travel had been awakened and she went again to Australia, then after a period back in England, worked as a croupier on cruise ships. Working out of a variety of ports, she travelled widely. With that and holidays, she visited most countries in the world. As well as a passion for travel, Jeanette loved all things Italian! In particular food, wine and opera. Later, after deciding that she needed a more ordered life, she settled in Diamondhead. Her love of pasta, wine and opera remained, and she added dancing to it. She loved the people of MS and often commented on the kindness that she experienced.

It is said that ‘travel broadens the mind’ and maybe that’s why Jeanette was a good friend to so many. She may not always agree with you, but you never felt judged.

We will have a simple scattering of ashes at her home and will contact local friends to join us. For those friends and family around the world, a memory or comment on this site would be very welcome.
