The Beautiful Life of Janet Talton Wheat
Janet Talton Wheat April 3, 1964 – April 25, 2026
With love all around her, Janet Talton Wheat passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 25, 2026, at the age of 62. She was born April 3, 1964, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to the late Lee and Anna Jean.
Janet married Steven Talton and became the proud mother of two children, Alainna and Stephan. After moving to Houston, she worked at Dillards as a makeup specialist helping women feel confident and beautiful, one lesson and one smile at a time. She later spent 20 years in the banking and finance industry in Houston, Texas. In 2005, she married Johnny Wheat and moved to Pearlington, Mississippi, where she quickly became a cherished part of the community. Janet had a way of showing up for people cooking for events, mowing a neighbor’s yard without being asked, and offering kindness to anyone who crossed her path. She was the kind of person who would hug a stranger in a hospital hallway and tell them everything would be okay even if she was the one who could have used a hug herself. Her heart was gentle, her spirit nurturing, and her love unmistakable.
Family was the cornerstone of Janets life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend always ready with a listening ear, a steady hand, and a little laugh to lighten the moment. If one word could describe her, it would be Giver. Janet freely gave her time, her care, and her kindness to everyone she loved (and plenty of people she had just met). She was also the life of the party, bringing joy, warmth, and laughter to every gathering.
Janet is survived by her husband of 20 years, Johnny Wheat; her daughter, Alainna (Bennie); her son, Stephan (Natalia); her granddaughter, KeJahnai; her brothers, Stanley Jean, Benjamin Jean, Michael Jean, and John Jean; and her sisters, Judy Walker (Houston, TX), Louise Joseph (Baytown, TX), Andrea Jean, and Valerie Jean (Opelousas, LA), along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly. Janet was blessed to have her mother, Anna Lee Jean, and also a woman she lovingly called Mom, Ms. Shirley Stevens (Opelousas, LA), who held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Anna Jean; her sister, Jocelyn Bernard; and her brothers, Christopher Jean and Steven Jean.
Janets generous spirit, warm smile, and deep love for her family will live on in the many lives she touched.
