James Albert Wainwright Sr

James A. Wainwright Sr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Bay St. Louis, MS, at the age of 72. He was born in Bay St. Louis, MS, to George A. Wainwright and Margaret Wainwright.

He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Janet Wainwright, with whom he spent 47 loving years. He is survived by his children, who he was so very proud of; David (Kitty), Shannon (Bird), and Jamesy (Nicole); his grandchildren, who affectionately called him pawpaw: Connor, DJ, Emmi, Ella, Marty, Ashley, Nickolas, Nicole, MJ, and Alyssaa; his great-grandchildren, Waylon, Kennedy, Stormy, and Rayden; his sister, Jennifer; his sister-in-law, Ann; and by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret; his son, Shawn; and his siblings, Michael, George Dennis, and Jeffery.

James was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which guided the way he loved and served others. During his years, he spent many days hunting, working in the garden, and sharing a Hershey bar with his wife, Janet. He was a selfless, genuine soul who left this Earth too soon. May he rest in peace.

Services will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Bayou LaCroix Cemetery, Bay St. Louis, MS, with a visitation at 1:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m.
