James Joseph Leo Riviere Jr.

James Joseph Leo Riviere Jr. (known as “Scopa” to most) Born on July 30th 1962 in Kenner Louisiana, passed away on May 26, 2026, at the age of 63, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

James was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, partner, and friend whose presence brought strength, humor, and love to the lives of many. He will be remembered for his resilience, his love for his family, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Joseph Leo Riviere Sr; his mother, Dorothy Harrison Riviere; and his sister, Darlene Riviere.

James is survived by his sister, Donna Riviere Graves; his children, Carrie Riviere, Jacob Riviere, and Zachary Riviere; his beloved grandson, Leo Riviere; his loving girlfriend of 6 years, Kimberly Gemelli; and his former wife and the mother of his children, Desiree Whitfield Riviere. He also leaves behind many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Though he is gone from this life, the love and memories James shared with those around him will live on forever.

A celebration of life and memorial service details will be shared by the family at a later date.
