Irma Louise Welch, a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024 at the remarkable age of 102. Born on May 11, 1922, in Oklahoma, Irma’s life was a testament to grace, resilience, and enduring passion for her friends and family.

Irma lived in Tennessee for 22 years before relocating to Diamondhead, Mississippi, via Pass Christian, where she continued to enrich her life and the lives of those around her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John F. Welch of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Irma leaves behind a legacy of love through her five children: John F. Welch Jr. and his wife Christine, Michael Joseph Welch and his wife Judy, Mary Catherine Grossnickle and her beloved husband John B., Richard Patrick Welch and his wife Shoaleh, and Patricia Louise Wright and her husband Michael. She was a devoted grandmother to 10 grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to 11 great-grandchildren.

An avid bridge player, Irma’s passion for the game was evident throughout her life. She was deeply involved in the bridge community both in Tennessee and later at The Bridge Club in Gulfport. Her expertise and dedication earned her the esteemed title of Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Irma's memory to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association, organizations that were personal to her heart.

Interment will take place privately at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Irma Louise Welch will be remembered for her graciousness, her exceptional skill at the bridge table, and in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
