Gloria Marjoe Breland Gex

Gloria Marjoe Breland Gex, a resident of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on January 29, 1940, in Caesar, MS to Vera Lee Breland and Joseph B. Breland, who precede her in death.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Gerald Calhoun Gex, her sister Virginia Breland Mitchell, and her most beloved daughter Michele Colleen Lagasse.

Marjoe’s life revolved around her family. Her surviving children are Terri Lagasse Neyrey, Paul Mahoney Lagasse (Linda), Elizabeth Gex Lopez (Sonny), Marybeth Gex MacDowell (Douglas), Joseph Jeffrey Gex (Christine), Christine Gex Grapusa, and Gerald Calhoun Gex, Jr. (Lisa). Her grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as JoJo include Nicole Lagasse Butler, Tracey Lagasse Coulter, Catherine Irene Lagasse, Alexandra Faith Neyrey, Forrest Brennan Freeman, Stephen Matthew Lopez, Linda Michelle Lopez, Victoria Elizabeth Flores, David Peter Grapusa, Jr., Samuel Christopher Grapusa, William Robert Arnold, Jr., Clinton Gerald Arnold, Stefan Gabriel Arnold, Gerald Calhoun Gex, III, and Kaitlyn Suzanne Gex. She is survived by twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Fred Burton Breland (Cassie) and Charles Aubrey Breland.

Marjoe will be remembered mostly for her love of family and provision for them all, for her strength of will and sense of fairness, and for her incredible sense of humor. She was the anchor of the family. She was an incredible seamstress and loved gardening in her spare time. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services honoring Marjoe’s life will be held at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home, 110 S. Necaise Ave, Bay St. Louis, MS, on Friday, July 10, 2026, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial service will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery at 304 S. Necaise Ave, Bay St. Louis, MS.
