Gerald "Jerry" William Keenum, 79, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
Jerry was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Bernard "Benny" and Ida Marian O'Donnell Keenum. While attending the University of New Orleans, Jerry played quarterback. He also served his country in the U.S. Marines and did a bit of acting, playing a role in "Miller's Crossing." He worked for years in insurance sales, earning a top salesman award at Mutual of Omaha. Later, he worked in his brother's company, Advanced Bio-Medical.
Jerry was a Christian and loved talking about God. He adored President Donald Trump, proudly wearing his red MAGA cap.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Ida Keenum, and brother, Patrick Keenum.
He is survived by multiple nieces and nephews, Kasey Keenum Courtney (Tony), Dawn Keenum Lenox, Holly Keenum (Bryan), and Shane Keenum; six great nieces and nephews, Taylor Murphy, Lindsey Carson, Parker Lenox, Jordan McWaters, Caleb McWaters, and Peyton Sharp; many cousins, Shirley Keenum, Charlene K. Dunne, Roseanne K. Gainer, Jacqueline Keenum, Charles K. Armbruster, Virgie K. Smith, and David K. Armbruster, just to name a few. He also leaves behind his close friend and caretaker of 24 years, Guy Buras (Lisa).
A Celebration of Life in honor of Jerry will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Pat's Pub in Fat City, Metairie, LA at 2:00 p.m.
