George Thomas Adams

Jun 24, 1954 — Jun 1, 2026

George Thomas Adams passed away on June 1, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 71. Lovingly known as "Tommy" to his family and friends, he was born on June 24, 1954, in Highland Park, Michigan. In 1963, he moved with his family to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where he spent his formative years.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Helene Adams and George Adams, and his younger sister, Suzanne Adams Larntz.

A graduate of Bay High School's Class of 1974, Tommy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi in Oxford. After graduating, he settled in Baton Rouge, where he began his career with Capital Valve and Fitting Company. He later pursued his lifelong passion for photography by founding and operating Adams Creative Photography. Tommy eventually joined Swagelok Valves, where he built a long and successful career that took him to Tennessee, Birmingham, and Tuscaloosa before returning to Baton Rouge, where he retired.

Tommy genuinely enjoyed his work and treasured the many friendships he built throughout his career. He was respected by coworkers and customers alike for his extensive knowledge, technical expertise, and remarkable ability to solve problems. Many considered him the only person in the South who could repair an optical comparator—a unique skill that became part of his professional legacy. Tommy had a quiet, humble nature and a quick wit. He never sought recognition but was always the first to lend a helping hand, share his knowledge, or make sure those around him were taken care of.

Outside of work, Tommy found his greatest joy in the outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, boating, or camping, he was happiest surrounded by nature. An avid outdoorsman, he was known for always having the latest gadget or piece of equipment on hand and seemed prepared for any adventure or unexpected situation. Family and friends could always count on Tommy to have exactly what was needed.

One of Tommy's most cherished traditions was hosting his annual New Year's Eve fireworks displays. These gatherings brought family and friends together year after year, creating lasting memories and becoming a beloved part of many holiday celebrations. His generous spirit, playful nature, and love of bringing people together will be fondly remembered by all who shared in those special evenings.

Tommy was also a deeply spiritual man whose faith remained an important part of his life. Guided by a compassionate and giving heart, he quietly supported numerous charitable causes, including breast cancer research, children's cancer organizations, and veterans' foundations. His kindness, generosity, and steady presence touched countless lives throughout the years.

He is survived by his siblings, Roxanne Colson, Dianne Pagano (Rocky), Maryanne Maurigi, Lianne Sands (Chris), and Douglas Adams (Dianne), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Tommy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a charity of your choice.
