Gene Edward Strief

Gene Edward Strief, age 89, passed peacefully in his sleep on January 22, 2026, in Lakeshore, Mississippi. Gene was born July 5, 1936, in Storm Lake, Iowa. After graduating from Marcus High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Eventually stationed in Biloxi, MS, he met the love of his life, Ella Deschamp. Later, he began a career in the construction industry. He loved spending time with his family, and he loved fishing. In his later years, he could be found almost daily at the seawall either fishing or talking about fishing. Gene was a devoted Christian and attended Lakeshore Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ella of nearly fifty years; his parents Edward and Agnes Strief; his two daughters Yvonne (Jeannie) Strief and Connie Garcia; his great granddaughter Elleigh LaFontaine; and his two brothers, Larry Strief and Donnie Strief.

He is survived by his son Greg (Balinda) Strief of Dedeaux; his daughter April (Wayne) Fucich of Lakeshore; six grandchildren: Shayna Garcia, Hunter Garcia, Jacob Fucich, Ryan Strief, Jeremy Strief, and Justin Strief; twelve great grandchildren, with number 13 arriving in April; two sisters, Judy Davis of Lakeland, Florida, and Joan Boyne of Houston, Texas; many loved nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Tippy.

Services will be held Tuesday, January 27,2026, at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay Saint Louis, MS from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Alphonse G. Malley Cemetery in Fenton, Mississippi.
