Etna "Dale" Van Loan

Etna "Dale" Martin Van Loan, 79, of Hilliard, Ohio and currently residing in Waveland, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

Dale was born in Hattiesburg, MS in 1946 to William Donald and Frances Martin. She went to Hattiesburg High School and graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Mathematics. She has held numerous positions but most importantly when she moved to Washington DC for work, she met and fell in love with Phil.

Dale had a love of traveling and learning about different countries and cultures and had the pleasure of exploring numerous countries over the past several years with Phil. Dale and Phil loved being snowbirds, spending time in Waveland and Bay St. Louis and being able to walk around town and enjoy good food, drinks, music and friends. Dale fiercely loved her family and grandchildren, bragging to anyone how proud she was of everyone.

Dale was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Marvin Martin.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Philip S. Van Loan; son, Stephen Van Loan (Susan) and their children, Trevor and Jason Van Loan; and daughter, Jeanette Van Loan and her children, Claire and Logan Maines; Sisters Donna Welch, Teresa Johnston, Lynn Lee; one brother, Bill Martin (Lisa), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home, 110 S. Necaise Ave., Bay Saint Louis, MS, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. with funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
