Ethel Schindler Green

Ethel Schindler Green (1928-2025) of Bay Saint Louis was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on November 6th at the age of 97. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Claude “Sanford” Green, Sr., two sons, John David Green, Sr. and Patrick Wayne Green, and grandson Caleb Patrick Green. She attended both St. Rose de Lima and Our Lady of the Gulf parishes.

Ethel worked in the office of E.S. Drake, Surveyor, until 1950 when she married the love of her life. Sanford’s early work life on the railroad took them to New Orleans, LA with an eventual return to Bay Saint Louis where they continued growing their large family. Ethel was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Ethel is also preceded in death by her parents, August and Alma (Bordages) Schindler; her siblings Joseph Schindler, Alice S. (Asa) Peterson, Clara S. (Eaton) Garriga, Margaret S. (Frank) Carver, Emile A. (Leah) Schindler, Sr., Clarence (Lillian) Schindler, Leo (Shirley) Schindler, Annie Schindler, Charles A. Schindler, and Raymond A.(Nadine) Schindler.

Ethel is survived by her children Claude (Gene) Green Jr., Michael (Nicole) Green, Elizabeth Green, Mary (Danny) Ainsworth, Claudette (John) Luther, Sech (Wayne) Lewis, Terry (Sarah) Green, Billy (Cristen) Green, and Lacy (Brenna) Green; 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, Sam (her beloved cat); her brother-in-law Tommy (Doris) Green, sister-in-law Patricia Green (James) Johnson and an extensive host of nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Enhabit Hospice (Peyton and Natuasha), Father Anil Thomas and devoted caregiver Martha Oliver.
