Emilie Renee Scianna
September 2, 1983 – July 5, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Emilie Renee Scianna, who entered eternal rest on July 5, 2026, at the age of 42.

Emilie was born on September 2, 1983, and was the beloved daughter of the late Luke Michael Scianna, Jr. and Brenda Demoruelle Scianna. She was preceded in death by her father and her beloved maternal grandparents, Louis and Emily Demoruelle. She is survived by her loving mother, Brenda Demoruelle Scianna, and her beloved boyfriend, James Leonards, whose unwavering love and support brought her great happiness.

Emilie also shared a special bond with her beloved dogs, Brew and Sprite. Brew, who preceded her in death, and Sprite brought her great joy, companionship, and unconditional love.

Emilie lived a life marked by compassion, faith, dedication, and a deep love for others. A 2002 graduate of Our Lady Academy, Emilie continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she earned her degree in Speech Pathology. She began her career serving students in the Hancock County School District before continuing her education at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, where she earned her master’s degree in 2009.

For the past 16 years, Emilie devoted her career to serving others as a Speech-Language Pathologist. In 2013, she joined TMC, where her professionalism, leadership, and genuine care for patients and colleagues led to her promotion to Rehab Director in 2023. She was deeply respected by her coworkers and was a passionate advocate for the patients whose lives she touched each day.

Emilie’s heart was especially drawn to working with the elderly. She found great purpose in helping her patients regain their abilities, communicate with confidence, and maintain their dignity. Her kindness, patience, and compassion left a lasting impression on countless patients and their families.

A woman of deep faith, Emilie was a devoted member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. In recent years, she found tremendous joy, encouragement, and spiritual growth through her Bible study groups, where she built lasting friendships rooted in faith.

Emilie also had a passion for health and wellness. For many years, she inspired others as a fitness instructor, teaching Yogalates for a decade. She encouraged her students not only to grow stronger physically, but also to find confidence, balance, and joy in movement. Her enthusiasm and positive energy made every class welcoming and uplifting.

Those who knew Emilie will remember her vibrant spirit, magnetic personality, and generous heart. She was spunky, full of life, and truly the life of the party. She never met a stranger, and her contagious laughter, quick wit, infectious smile, and boundless energy could light up any room. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome, loved, and celebrated. Her joy was contagious, and her presence made every gathering brighter.

Above all, Emilie will be remembered for her steadfast faith, compassionate spirit, generous heart, and the joy she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though her time on earth was far too short, she lived with purpose, grace, and love. Her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched as a daughter, friend, colleague, mentor, instructor, and faithful servant of God.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Emilie and her loved ones during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hancock County Friends of the Animal Shelter in honor of Emilie’s love for animals and her beloved dogs.
