Elizabeth Brent Mathilda Ann Cox

Elizabeth Brent Mathilda Ann Cox, known to her family as Betty Brent and to others, as Bee, aged 69, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 in Gulfport, MS.

She was baptized at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church and was a lifelong member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church until Katrina washed it away.

She was in the Food and Beverage Industry and ran the Tchoupitoulas House for years until she married Augie Werner, of The Bounty Restaurant's family. She loved swimming, boating, horses, her Bible, which she read daily, and she enjoyed food. She had a beautiful singing voice; a gift from her maternal grandmother, Marie Rose Testard McShane; she loved children and her kitties, and blessed everyone she met,  never meeting a stranger. She had a truly loving soul.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Augie Werner; and parents, John William & Eliza Rose McShane Cox.

She is survived by her sister, Rose Jen "R.J" Cox Pierce;  one nephew, Matthew Edward Pierce; and her  special, loving second cousin, Lucy Anglin.
