Elaine Tracy

May 30, 1935 — November 25, 2023

Perkinston, MS

Elaine Tracy (nee Paquette) passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, at the age of 88.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Norbert Paquette, and an older sister, Joan Paquette.

She leaves behind her twin sister, Evelyn Bauder, and niece, Debbie Bauder; three daughters, Lisa Tracy, Colleen Ferguson (Harry), and Carmel Ladner (Ryan); four grandchildren, Justin Ferguson (Sara), Angus Ferguson (Mary Beth), Cole Ladner, and Calaina Ladner; and a great-grandchild, Bonnie Gaines-Ferguson.

Elaine worked all her life and never harder than when raising her three daughters. She found success in the workplace at a time when a women’s place was questioned from both sides. With some thinking that home-making was enough or wrongly suspecting women’s ability, Elaine made anyone who held either doubt question those doubts.   Without a show of talking about such things, Elaine simply proved them wrong.  For all her love and kindness, Elaine had a strong will and sense of priorities and purpose. Those qualities shone in all she did. Elaine cared and took care.  Elaine loved her family more than anything, but up next was baseball. As a life-long fan, she coached her daughters’ softball team and passed her love of the game on to her grandchildren. Baseball cards were usually on every birthday party gift list.  The World Series was an anticipated yearly event for her, especially if her beloved Braves were in the running.  Elaine was a passionate reader of books.  She was also an avid knitter who kept her needles clicking throughout the year to supply all with lovingly hand-made gifts.  Her love of teddy bears was unmatched.  Imagine a teddy bear wearing a knitted Braves jersey and reading a mystery novel.  One of Elaine’s greatest gifts was her joy of the Christmas season.  She loved the festivities and was generous with her gift-giving, carefully selecting gifts that she knew the recipient would really want, not what she thought they should have.  It is Elaine’s joy of the season that will be missed this year and always.
