Donald A. Koenenn, age 81, of Kiln, MS, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Donald was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast, born on May 18, 1944, to Arthur and Martha Koenenn. He graduated from Hancock North Central where he found his love for the game of football. He had a 42-year career at Winn Dixie where he had many roles through the years. More recently he was a bus driver for Hancock County School District where he loved his elementary students. He was a retired member of the Army National Guard where he served as a cook. He was a member of the Bay St. Louis American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3804 where he served as Post Sr. Vice Commander from 2002 through 2009. He also loved hunting, fishing, cooking, sporting events, and the Atlanta Braves.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Martha Koenenn, his loving wife of 49 years, Karen Koenenn, and sister Jacqueline Koenenn Cuevas.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law Donna and Stacey Battaglia; grandchildren, Jonathan and Rachel Lee, Makayla and William Crain and Emilee Battaglia; his brother Thomas "Tommy" Koenenn Sr., and special loved ones, Eddie and Rachel Lee and Debbie Peterson and many others.
A special, deep felt thank you to his home healthcare nurse Holly Macrae from Deaconess Home Health and Dr. Payment's office at Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at Annunciation Chapel on Saturday, November 15, 2025 beginning at 9:00 a.m. for visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial we be held at 11:00 a.m. with interment following at Rotten Bayou Cemetery.
