Derek Louis Collier

Derek Louis Collier was born on January 27, 1975, in Gulfport, Mississippi, and passed away on August 22, 2026, in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. A native of Bay Saint Louis, he is remembered with love as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by those who hold him close in their hearts.

Derek was baptized Catholic. He worked in the railroad industry and was known as someone who enjoyed the simple and meaningful things that bring people together. He loved fishing, repairing boats, and following sports. He also enjoyed going on cruises with friends and was especially happy when surrounded by family and friends at big seafood boils, sharing good food, laughter, and time together.

He is survived by his mother, Deborah Barnes, and his stepfather, Mark Barnes. He is also survived by his brother Chad Collier and Mia, his sister Cassandra Collier and Lonnie, his brother Trevor Collier and Heather and beloved nieces and nephews. Derek’s love and presence will continue to be remembered by his family and by all who knew him as a caring and treasured part of their lives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thaddeus “T.J.” Collier Jr., and by his godmother, Darlene McNeal. Their memories remain joined with his in the hearts of those who remember them.

Visitation will be held on August 28, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church, 236 S Beach Blvd, Waveland, Mississippi. A Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church. Burial will take place on August 28, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 304 S Necaise Ave, Bay St Louis, Mississippi.

Derek Louis Collier will be remembered for the warmth he brought to family and friends, for the times shared on the water and around the table, and for the place he holds in the lives of those who loved him. May his memory bring comfort and peace.
