David Lloyd Garcia

David Lloyd Garcia, 83, passed away on January 16, 2024.

David was born on January 7, 1941, in Bay St. Louis, MS to the late Lloyd and Madeline Garcia, and survived by his siblings, Claude, Peggy (Klein) and Philip.

David was married to Patricia Villere for 63 years in Waveland, Mississippi where they raised their four daughters, Theresa Bermond, the late Elizabeth Cure (Joe), Mary Dodge (Jeff) and Patricia Kalhagen (Geir). Together, they have eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren that loved their Pawpaw dearly.  

A graduate of St. Stanislaus High School in 1959, David was an avid Rock-A-Chaws fan. He later received the “Men of Character” award in 2007 alongside his son-in law, Joe, and grandson, Joseph. After high school, he earned his Master Plumber and Steamfitters License and worked for MCC Mechanical for 47 years and served as the Executive Vice President. He was a 63-Year Member of the Local 60 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union, during which he won the State of Louisiana Apprentice Competition.   

David was an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Clermont Harbor where he enjoyed his Friday Fish Fry events, and received the Lumen Christi Award in 2010.  He was a 1964 Founding Member of the Waveland Civic Association and served as the organization’s Grand Marshall in 2004.   He was also an active member with the Mississippi Cattleman Association, Progressive Hunting Club and the National Rifle Association.  He also enjoyed serving as the Assistant Chief of the Waveland Volunteer Fire Department.

His funeral service will be private for immediate family.   In lieu of flowers, please make a donation at a Hancock Whitney Bank for the David L. Garcia Memorial Fund.
