Carolyn was born and raised in Logtown, Mississippi. A place she always called home! In her teens she moved and resided in Waveland, MS until she joined the US Naval forces and became a corps-wave. She was stationed in Corpus Christi and fell in love with Alfred Benton Snyder Jr. They got married and lived in Santa Ana, California for a while until Alfred got the call to Okinawa, Japan to serve as a Corpsman to injured soldiers from Vietnam. Carolyn moved back to Waveland, MS and held various jobs in banking and more notable hospital registration with Hancock Medical Center until moving to Hattiesburg, MS in 1991 when she accepted a registration job with Forrest General Hospital where she worked until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of Word of Faith of Bay St Louis, MS and Grace Temple Church in Hattiesburg, MS. More recently with her declining health- she attended church services online with Grace Temple (Hattiesburg, MS); Word of Faith (Waveland, MS); Flora Methodist Church (Flowood, MS); Ahava Life Center in Canada; Gateway Christian of Goodlettsville, TN. Carolyn advocated for religious freedoms, animal rights, and other noteworthy causes.

She was preceded in death by her father Henry Otis; her mother Ruth Sanford; grandfather Lamar Otis; grandmother Bettye Weston; her husband Alfred B Snyder Jr, aunt Mildred Fountain; cousin Bettye Myers; and several other wonderful members of the family.

She is survived by her daughter Pamela Snyder Wylie(husband Nathan Wylie); step sister Jennifer Otis-Norris(husband Stepheon); grandsons Issac and Max Wylie; cousin Gary Fountain (wife Dodie); nephew CJ Otis(daughter Ruby); niece Breanna Peters(daughter Shaelyn, son Zion); cousins John Myers, Bill Myers, Bob Myers among other distant family members.

Funeral services will be held in Logtown Cemetery in Pearlington, MS 39572 on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
Please meet at Edmond Fahey funeral home at 12:00 p.m. to escort to the cemetery.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held in Hattiesburg at Grace Temple Church:1131 Richburg Rd; Hattiesburg MS 39402 announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Carolyn requests you donate the money to the animal shelter of your choice (her top 3 were Hopeful Hearts Animal Rescue, Hub City Animal Shelter, and Hancock County Animal shelter), MPVR (https://mpvrpac.com/ ), or any of the churches listed above(or your own home church).
