Carolyn Champagne Barielle Miers

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Carolyn Champagne Barielle Miers, lovingly known as Mimi, on July 13, 2023.
Born on May 8, 1935 in Biloxi, Mississippi, Carolyn lived a full and vibrant life marked by her witty, elegant, wise, thoughtful, honest, supportive, and family-oriented nature.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husbands James L. Miers Sr., and Roger A. Barielle, her brothers, Gabriel J. Champagne Jr., Louis A. Champagne, Kenneth C. Champagne Sr., and her sister Lois C. Morse.
Carolyn leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories stitched together with love and care. She is survived by her children E. Scott Barielle, Paul (Jocelyn) Barielle, Leigh (Bill) Courtney, Julie (Michael) Alfano, Aimee (David) John, and Jeanne (Sam) Medlock. She was a cherished grandmother to Corey, Jordan, Mitch, Emily, Caroline, Montgomery, Josh, Abby, Marie, Michelle, Carolyn, Catherine, Elizabeth, Beau, Elle, Cam, Gabriella, Deidre, and Genevieve. She also earned the title of great-grandmother to Alexander, Greer, Parker, and Evangeline, all of whom she loved very much. Her sister Marguerite C. Weisler and brother Douglas A. Champagne Sr. will miss her dearly.
A beloved member of Unity Baptist Church, Carolyn's faith was of significant importance to her.
The lessons she shared like, "It is what it is- always make the best of it, love unconditionally, you get more with sugar than you do with vinegar, pretty is as pretty does, push through the storm, and manners matter" are a testament to the impactful life she lived. Carolyn's greatest accomplishments were undoubtedly her six children, eighteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, humor, compassion, and wisdom will continue to live on.
Her advice, though not direct, had a way of inspiring confidence and reassurance, making you feel that everything was going to be okay. Carolyn "Mimi" Miers, you will be dearly missed, but your spirit will live on in the enormous family you so lovingly nurtured.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home, 110 Necaise Avenue, Bay St Louis, MS.
