Bernard "Benny" Silvestri, 74, of Walker, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Benny was born on August 6, 1952, in Algiers, LA and was a longtime resident of Waveland, MS before moving to Walker, LA after Hurricane Katrina. Benny leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sister, Yvonne Silvestri; cousins, Jay Dufrechou and Michelle Kaiser; niece Lisa Pulizzano and husband Todd Ohmes; nephew Michael Pulizzano, Sr and wife Angela; great-nephew Michael Pulizzano, Jr and great-niece Lena Pulizzano. Benny is preceded in death by his parents James & Yvonne Silvestri; aunt, Audrey Dufrechou; sister, Sylvia Silvestri Pulizzano and brother-in-law, Henry Pulizzano, Jr. Benny graduated from St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis in 1971 and then Pearl River JC. For over 30 years, Benny played in multiple traveling bands across the United States, including The Agents, Corruption, SeaBreeze, Wild West Band, and the Danny & Benny Duo. After that, he came home and worked in the call center for Oreck Products and Hancock Bank, where he happily retired.
Visitation will be held at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church, Bay St. Louis, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., with a brief committal ceremony at the burial site to follow at Waveland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Pulizzano, Sr, Michael Pulizzano, Jr, Todd Ohmes, Joel Pulizzano, Wayne Moran, and David Yarborough. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Pulizzano, Jay Dufrechou, Danny Perniciaro, Sammy Perniciaro, Brandon Beatty and Robert Desselles.
Special thanks to Fr. Matthew Graham, and Benny’s special angels Caitlin Beatty and Kathy Reno, along with his nurses and the staff at Audubon Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs, LA, or Audubon Hospice in Baton Rouge.
