Barbara Jean (Unger) Torguson

Barbara Jean Torguson, age 79, of Bay St. Louis, MS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026. A resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast for over 35 years, she resided in Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis with her devoted husband of 58 years, Marlin.

Born on October 22, 1946, in Morris, Minnesota, to the late Jim and Helen (Volkman) Unger, Barb was a proud 1964 graduate of Morris High School. She went on to earn her degree from the University of Minnesota in 1968.

Barb was a woman of many passions. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. She, Marlin, and their beloved pug, Milly, spent much of their time exploring in their motorhome, creating a lifetime of wonderful memories. Her time spent working in the family business, Unger Furniture, sparked a lifelong talent for interior design.

Barb is survived by her husband, Marlin; her children, Eric (Shelly) Torguson and Kristin (Beau) Schindler; and her four cherished grandchildren, James, August, Max, and Helena. She is also survived by her sisters, Judy (Bob) Vaa and Kathy (Mark) Fisher, and her brother, Bob (Terri) Unger.

The family is planning a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
