Barbara Bond Prater

Barbara Bond Prater, 70, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving daughters. Born and raised in Gulfport, MS as the eighth child out of ten, she married the love of her life in 1971. Living the military life while living in many interesting places, she and Jimmy raised two girls and a boy. After retiring from the Navy, they chose to settle in Waveland, MS.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James Prater; son, Jimmy Prater; parents, Adrian and Georgia Bond; siblings, Floyd, Horace, Clint, Delphia, and Linda Mattie Fitts.

She is survived by daughters, Sherry Prater and Barbara Phillips; grandsons, Christopher Phillips, Michael Phillips, and Ian Prater; brother, Charles Bond (Linda); and sisters, Kay Horne (Michael) and Bonnie Ammon (Steve).

Graveside service will be held at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS on Wednesday, March 5, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.
