It is with great sadness that the family of Annette Marie Yarbrough Strickland announces her passing on May 23, 2026 at the age of 84. Mrs. Strickland passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
Annette who was born on September 1, 1941 in Bayou Caddy Mississippi, grew up in Lake Catherine, LA and rode the train to Colton School in New Orleans, LA. After marriage, she was a resident of New Orleans, LA.
Annette's faith was the compass of her life, inspiring her legendary hospitality and quiet generosity. She was of Catholic religion and attended Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Ann's Church and served as an Eucharistic Minister for many years in Metairie, LA. She also enjoyed family trips to the beach, fishing, attending jazzercise classes, reading books putting puzzles together and coloring. But, most of all, she enjoyed her family, including her two pets Hobo (deceased) and Missy.
She was the daughter of the late Frederick Clifford Yarbrough, Sr. and Olivia Camilla Lafontaine. She was also preceded in death by her husband Emerson Victor Strickland, Jr. of 52 years; sister, Bessie A. LaBorde; and grandsons, Jeffrey Ray Manale and James Harold Ladner.
She is survived by her three daughters, Annette S. McDow (Kenneth) of Eden Isles, LA; Tammy S. Bourgeois (Don) of Diamondhead, MS, and Lisa S. Ladner (Ernest), of Ansley, MS; brothers, Frederick Yarbrough, Jr. (Merline, deceased) of New Orleans, LA, Alvin Yarbrough (Laura) of Metairie, LA and Joseph Yarbrough (Norma) of Pearl River, LA; grandchildren, Kenneth D. McDow, III (Sarah), Sgt. Quinn P. McDow, U.S. Army (Megan), Frederick J. Manale, Jr. (Katie), and Jesse E. Ladner; great-grandchildren, Marie Manale, Olivia Manale, and Lucas McDow.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Matthew McElveen and Compassus Hospice. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at St Ann's Catholic Church, 5858 Lower Bay Rd., Bay St. Louis MS from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian Burial. Interment to follow at Bayou Caddy Cemetery in Ansley, MS. Edmond Fahey Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
