Alice Francis Shubert Spiers, 89, died Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Alice was born March 30, 1936, in Plaquemine Parish, Louisiana on a houseboat to Henry and Ruth Shubert. Alice helped care for her two sisters, she enjoyed cooking and cleaning while her mom helped her dad on the farm.
Alice married Tommie Ray Spiers on December 5, 1954. The two were lifelong companions and best friends. They were blessed with five children, Michael, Glen, Karen, Joanna and Douglas.
Alice was a stay-at-home mom who devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed camping and riding with her husband on his motorcycle. Alice had her own motorcycle which won many trophies for best in show and various competitions.
She often told stories of her memories which made everyone laugh. She had a wonderful personality that lit up a room wherever she went.
She was a member of Old Spanish Trail Baptist Church. Alice worked as a poll worker for about 60 years and managed the Bayou Phillip Community Center. Other hobbies included traveling, bird watching, attending blue grass festivals, boating, cake decorating, raising chickens and so many more!
Alice is survived by her husband, Tommie Ray, her children, Michael (Donna), Glen (Patty), Karen, Joanna (John), and Douglas; ten grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews, and her sister Hellon Moran.
She was preceded in death by her sister Margaret (Betty) Holden, still born son, Wayne, daughter in law, Wanda Spiers and son in law Randall Jackson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 1:00PM – 5:00PM at the Bayou Phillips Community Center located on Harbor Drive in Bay Saint Louis, MS.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Old Spanish Trail Baptist Church (5078 Hwy 90, Bay Saint Louis, MS 39520) for a roof fund and to preserve the building and property that Alice’s father donated.
